High Energy Theory Group to Lead the Establishment of a Global Research Hub for AI-Quantum Convergence

We are thrilled to announce that on September 3, 2025, the Kyung Hee University Department of Physics was selected for the "2025 Brain Pool (BP) Institutional Program," a prestigious grant hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Research Foundation of Korea. Our successful proposal, titled "Pioneering Next-Generation Physics Research through AI-Quantum Convergence: Building a Global Research Hub by Inviting World-Class Scholars to Secure National Strategic Technologies," will be supported with a total budget of 2.1 billion KRW over three years (September 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027).

This selection is particularly momentous for our High Energy Theory Physics group (officially the Particle/Field Physics/Astrophysics team, RB2). As a central pillar of the project, our group, led by Professor Nakwoo Kim , will spearhead research into the most fundamental questions in modern theoretical physics—such as quantum gravity, string theory, and black hole dynamics—by pioneering innovative methodologies that fuse Artificial Intelligence and quantum simulation.

Kyung Hee Theoretical Higher Energy Physics (K-THEP) group plans to recruit three outstanding postdoctoral fellows through the Brain Pool program. This hiring initiative is central to our strategy of transferring cutting-edge knowledge and technology to the domestic research community through close collaboration with international scholars. This project will enable us to cultivate next-generation talent and build a sustainable, global research ecosystem. We invite you to follow our progress as we embark on this exciting journey to establish our group as a world-leading hub for AI-Quantum convergence research.
